Broadcast Community Welcomes Kyle Darden

WASHINGTON, DC - Among his closest acquaintances and friends, Kyle Darden is known to play disc golf, enjoy indie cinema, and watch the English Premier Soccer League. More recently, Darden joined Native Public Media as the new Program Coordinator. During his first month of on-boarding, Darden visited with the Federal Communications Commission and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in Washington, D.C.

“It’s an incredible opportunity to be a part of an organization that is working to improve the visibility and self-determination of Native Americans through the medium of broadcasting,” Darden said after meeting with staff members from the FCC and CPB. “Visiting with our regulatory partners has shown me that NPM’s work has fostered relationships with regulatory agencies on behalf of Native stations, especially within the areas of compliance and I look forward to contributing toward that tradition.”

As Program Coordinator, Darden will ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services on behalf of the tribal broadcast network with a strong focus on non-financial station compliance, event planning, communications and marketing, and serving as the support staff for the Station Advisory Committee.

Born in Tuba City and raised in Flagstaff, Darden is of Navajo descent and a graduate of Northern Arizona University with business degrees in Finance and Marketing. Prior to NPM, Darden worked in the non-profit sector at the United Way of Northern Arizona supporting 64 partner organizations throughout Coconino, Navajo and Apache counties.
