CALL FOR SUMMIT PROPOSALS

Join us for the 2025 Native Broadcast Summit in Albuquerque, New Mexico! We invite you to submit engaging and inspiring presentation proposals that reflect our theme: "Building Alliance: Strengthening Partnerships for a Better Future" in Native American Broadcast services. We can't wait to hear your ideas!

IMPORTANT DATES
  • Call for Proposals Opens: November 1st, 2024

  • Proposal Deadline: December 27, 2024

  • Acceptance Notification: January 31st, 2025

  • Conference Dates: May 5th and 6th, 2025

PRESENTER CONSIDERATIONS

  • We do not provide honorariums or travel support for presenters.

  • Presenters consent to being photographed or videotaped for promotional purposes related to the Native Broadcast Summit.

  • All presenters must register and attend the Summit. Registration opens in January 2025.

 

SESSION FORMAT

Choose the format that best fits your topic and enhances audience learning:

  1. Session with Q&A: A presentation followed by 15–20 minutes of questions.

  2. Talking Circles: Group discussions led by three or more moderators.

  3. Panel: A moderated discussion with 3–4 diverse presenters, followed by 15–20 minutes of Q&A.

  4. Workshop: An interactive session with hands-on activities for in-depth skill development on a specific topic.

 

PROPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS

Total session time: 75 minutes, including Q & A. 

Write your proposal using the link provided below.​

    • Session Presenters Names

    • Select Summit Topic (either from one proposed or a topic related to this year's theme of your own)

    • Select Summit Format:  

      • A session with Q & A

      • Talking Circles

      • Panel Discussion

      • Workshop

    • Session Title: 15 words maximum. Be descriptive but concise.

    • Session Objectives: Provide three learning objectives. 

      • What will participants take away from your session?

    • Session Summary: 50-word maximum.

      • Think, what is that quick elevator pitch of your session?

    • Session Description: 200-word maximum.  

      • What topics will be covered? What will happen during the session? What will people do? 

    • Presenter Bios: Write a 50-word bio, ensuring your name, title, organization, and contact information are correct. 

    • Audiovisual Information:  The meeting space will have an LCD projector, screen, podium, a fixed podium microphone, and wireless microphones.  Presenters will be responsible for bringing their laptops and cords.  If you have audiovisual requirements beyond what will be provided, indicate your needs here.​

 

You may select from the presentation ideas below or make up your own.

  1. Partnerships and Collaboration: Discuss successful external partnerships that enhanced resources and innovation, focusing on how these relationships advanced your mission and objectives.

  2. Artificial Intelligence in Media: Investigate AI's role in content creation and the ethical challenges it poses in media production and analytics.

  3. Content Monetization: Examine shifting revenue models and innovative monetization strategies, including subscriptions and alternative revenue streams beyond traditional advertising or underwriting.

  4. Digital Transformation: Discuss the media industry's shift towards digital platforms, focusing on content creation, distribution, and evolving audience behaviors.

  5. Data Privacy and Security: Highlight the importance of safeguarding content and user data amidst rising digital platform reliance, including best practices and regulations.

  6. Diversity and Inclusion: Address representation and inclusivity in media, emphasizing its role in shaping societal attitudes and the importance of diverse storytelling.

  7. Environmental Sustainability: Discuss sustainable practices in media operations, including carbon footprint reduction and emergency planning for eco-friendly initiatives.

  8. Fake News and Misinformation: Present strategies to combat misinformation, enhance fact-checking, and promote media literacy among audiences.

  9. Financial Literacy and Fundraising: Focus on essential financial principles for sustainable broadcasting, covering budgets, cost management, and long-term revenue optimization.

  10. Broadcast Regulatory Changes: To navigate industry impacts effectively, stay informed on evolving broadcasting regulations, including copyright and emergency alerting policies.

PROPOSAL SELECTION CRITERIA

  • The topic should advance the field of broadcasting and media making.

  • Content must showcase timely, strategic, or innovative ideas.

  • Clearly defined learning objectives or critical takeaways.

  • Speakers and panelists should represent varied viewpoints relevant to the session.

  • The session must engage the audience based on the format and content.

HOW TO SUMMIT YOUR PROPOSAL

  1. ​Visit the Submission Page: Click the link to access our online platform.
  2. Complete the Form: Fill in the required proposal details.
  3. Upload Materials: Add supporting documents like slides or images if needed.
  4. Review and Submit: Check your information for accuracy, then submit your proposal.
  5. Confirmation: You'll receive a confirmation email with details about the next steps. Keep it for your records.
