Native Broadcast Summit 2017
The Native Broadcast Summit is a multiday event hosted by Native Public Media that brings together radio and television broadcasters throughout Indian Country to share in discussions, resources and best practices. Informational sessions and presentations provided at this year's Summit will focus on supporting Native broadcasters in their work to be empowered, well-informed first responders for their respective Nations. The Summit will be held on the Chickasaw Nation at The Artesian Hotel, 1001 West 1st Street, Sulphur, Oklahoma 73086. Events will commence on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. EST and conclude on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. EST. Make your plans to join us!
In addition to being our host venue, The Artesian Hotel will accommodate our Summit guests with lodging needs. You can make hotel reservations by contacting The Artesian Hotel directly at 580.622.8110, and referencing the assigned code “2017NBS” to receive the discounted rate of $119 per night. To ensure the greatest possibility of securing your preferred room type, NPM highly encourages guests to complete bookings as soon as possible or by April 2, 2017. More information can be found in FAQs (linked below).
Please note that the reservation desk at The Artesian Hotel may experience a influx of calls at any given time, which may lead to a busy phone signal. If for any reason you have trouble with reserving a room, please contact Elyse Dempsey immediately for assistance at 505.615.5754.
Travel & Transportation
The Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) in Oklahoma City is 86 miles (approximately 1.5 hours) from Sulphur and is the closest airport to The Artesian Hotel. Summit guests are highly encouraged to select the Will Rogers World Airport as their destination as shuttles will be available on May 3, May 5, and May 6 only, courtesy of the Chickasaw Nation, to transport Summit guests to The Artesian Hotel. SHUTTLES WILL BE AVAILABLE ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS AND HAVE A CAPACITY OF 24 PASSENGERS PER TIME SLOT. Shuttles will close when capacity for each time slot are met. Please note that shuttles will ONLY be provided on the following dates and times:
May 3 2:30 p.m. 5:00 p.m
May 5 3:30 p.m.
May 6 TBD
If you are interested in the shuttle service, NPM recommends that Summit guests confirm their travel plans as the registration form requests travel information. Additionally, because of the limited shuttle schedule and the travel time of 1.5 hours between the airport and hotel, Summit guests should plan to coordinate and select flight times accordingly.
For more information about the Will Rogers World Airport including car rental options, refer to the airport website (linked below).
Schedule of Events
Events will include speakers and informational sessions, focusing on emergency communications, station compliance, underwriting, journalism and more. For specific information, see the schedule of events (linked below).
When registering, guests can expect to provide personal information and Summit event selections. In addition, travel information (i.e. shuttle needs and flight information) will be requested. This information will assist NPM with managing and coordinating shuttle capacities. However, if you do not anticipate needing shuttle services or do not have flight information available at the time of registration, you can still complete your registration. Simply make the appropriate selection regarding shuttle services and NPM staff will follow-up as needed.
