The National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB) is a national alliance of public radio stations, producers, and others committed to community radio. NFCB advocates for national public policy, funding, recognition, and resources on behalf of its membership, while providing services to empower and strengthen community broadcasters through the core values of localism, diversity, and public service.

Native Public Media was founded in 2004 to promote healthy, engaged, independent Native communities by strengthening and expanding Native American media capacity and by empowering a strong, proud Native American voice.

NFCB seeks a full-time Development Coordinator to provide critical administrative support in maintaining a strong development program for the organization and its major initiative, Native Public Media. This is an entry-level development position with opportunity for growth. The Development Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Resource and Program Development

Principle activities and responsibilities include:

  • Research and identify foundation, corporate, individual and government funding prospects;
  • Assist in preparing and submitting funding proposals and grant reports;
  • Maintain development calendar and track all program activities;
  • Maintain donor files and donor database;\
  • Process grants and develop systems for tracking deliverables;
  • Assist in writing and preparing solicitation materials and other donor relations communications;
  • Help plan and coordinate donor outreach events;
  • Assist with other activities and projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet constantly changing demands;
  • Positive attitude;
  • Strong research and analytical skills;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (or equivalent) programs;

Additional consideration will be given to candidates with:

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultures and/or specific experience with Native American communities and cultures;
  • Familiarity with public radio and the broader field of telecommunications;
  • Two years experience working in a non-profit setting;
  • Experience in non-profit development work.
